i had changed my code to look like this
Code:
# /etc/sudoers
#
# This file MUST be edited with the 'visudo' command as root.
#
# See the man page for details on how to write a sudoers file.
#
Defaults env_reset
# Host alias specification
# User alias specification
User_Alias OPERATOR = sysop
# Cmnd alias specification
Cmnd_Alias ADMIN = !/bin/su, !/usr/sbin/visudo
# User privilege specification
root ALL=(ALL) ALL
# Allow members of group sudo to execute any command
# (Note that later entries override this, so you might need to move
# it further down)
%sudo ALL=(ALL) ALL
#
#includedir /etc/sudoers.d
# Members of the admin group may gain root privileges
%admin ALL=(ALL) ALL
#OPERATOR ALL = (ALL) OP
#root ALL=(ALL) ALL
#%wheel ALL=(ALL) ALL #was not shure why this was here i assumed it was part of your setup so i commented it out
OPERATOR ALL = (ALL) ALL, ADMIN
this works for me
Quote:
sysop@test-server1:~$ sudo vi test
[sudo] password for sysop:
sysop@test-server1:~$

questions for you have you checked for updated
what groups is sysop part of
are any of the groups in the sudoer file with Denys if so does sysop need to be there.
Check for order of assigned permissions and order you assigned theme rember if line 1 allows commands and line 2 Denys commands the commands line 2 has will be denyed even if they specifically specified in line 1 as allowed.
