Total newbie don't know how to access external harddrive and NAS

I am a total newbie into Linux. I have just bought the Acer One Aspire with Linpus Linux Lite v1.0.11.E. And I have just discovered I can't access 1) my external harddrive (NTFS) and 2) my NAS'es. Is it difficult/impossible or...?

The web page for "Linpus Lite" specifies a "Kernel 2.6.20 or higher", so I would normally expect support for NTFS and NAS drives. On the other hand, they specify that "Linpus Lite" supports systems with 366 MHz processors and 128 MB of RAM.

That might mean that for the Acer Aspire One, they built the kernel with the minimal amount of hardware support needed for the target. You should be able to get around this by downloading the kernel source from kernel.org and building a new kernel on another machine.

You might also check that you have the necessary user space utilities to use NTFS drives (i.e. mount.ntfs).

Let us know what happens.
