Unhappy Grub.conf disappeared?

Hi,

I've installed Gentoo Linux. I configured grub and created grub.conf in /boot/grub/ directory.

My system boots fine, so I know the file is there, but I can no longer edit it.

When I type nano -w /boot/grub/grub.conf, it says it doesn't exist. That is the directory I created it in the first place.

I tried whereis grub, but it only showed me /sbin/grub, /usr/share/grub, /usr/man/man8/grub.8.gz, /usr/share/man/man8/grub.8.gz

How do I find it again?

Nevermind, I forgot that I needed to mount /boot first..

it's not configured to be auto-mounted..

however, if it's not mounted, I shouldn't have been able to browse to /boot.

oh well, still learning.
