New to SUSE, Americas Army problem

First of all I'm new to linux so please dumb down the replies.
I've been a windoze user for years and just made the move to linux. So far so good just wish there was more game support.
I finally got americas Army to install properly but how do I run the game? I've been searching the net for some time without the exact answer. Some one please help i want to start gaming on linux so I have a good reason to dump Microsoft.

Thanks in advance
TJ

how'd you get it installed? with WINE? I think you can find the .exe file, and run
Code:
wine <america's army title>.exe
This is assuming you installed it with wine of course

I would imagine that you installed with the native linux installerinstead of running through wine right? If you didn't, download and install the native linux version. Then open a shell and I think the executable for it is 'armyops' (can't remember for sure). Run that and see what happens. If that doesn't work, you could always just re-run the installer and at the end it should say something like "to start this game type 'whateverthecommandis' in a shell."

I installed the native linux game without problems. When I try to play the game the splash screen opens for about 15 seconds and then goes back to desktop. I tried some of the suggestions on the AA forums for linux but nothing seems to be able to get me past the splash screen. I'm using SUSE 10.0

Thanks in advance

Are you running from the kde menu or from a shell? If you are using the menu, try starting it from a shell and tell us what sort of output you get. That way we have something more to go on in order to assist you better.

Hmm ok, setting this environment variable and exporting it allowed ut2004 to launch without erroring, but no sound. Had the same effect as
Code:
ut2004 -nosound
BUT.......

It did give a different output

Code:
david@xpbeast ~ $ ut2004
open /dev/[sound/]dsp: Device or resource busy
Xlib: extension "XiG-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD" missing on display ":0.0".
I'll take this to the OpenAL mailing list and see what i get back and report.
