Majesty won't save games under FC5x86_64

So, I finally got FC5 working. It was an absolute nightmare. I was without a computer for over a week... but I'm not here to go down that route.

What I need to know is now that I have everything running, for some reason my Majesty game has decided that Saving anything is pointless. This not only means I can't save Freestyle games, but I can't actually play the campaign as it crashes when it tries to write out statistics.

Does anyone know why this might be happening or what I could try? Has anyone seen anything similar with the other LGP games? I do have SC3k, I suppose I could install that and see if it does the same thing. I emailed LGP like the crash said, but as yet there has been nothing but an automated response - so hope is not springing eternal here.

Check your permissions in the Majesty folder.

lol - I'm running as root. Yet I don't cross that answer out. FC5 does some pretty weird stuff to "protect" your system. So I wouldn't doubt that it's a permission issue. But as I'm running as root I don't know what it could be. I was going to set the save-game directory as Write for everyone to try that out, but i couldn't find any info on where it saves this information for this game either.
I don't think this is it though given that I'm root. There must be some other answer. In order to get other apps to work i've had to already disable SElinux and Execshield. There must be yet another thing blocking my apps from working.

Update: I set the majx dir and subs to 777 and it didn't help at all - so I can at least rule out that it's not a "permissions" issue in the traditional sense.

Interesting. But the game works fine other than that?

I suspect it's some kind of FC software that is enabled by default in the name of security, but in this case it's becoming a hindrance.

3 weeks and I still can't run this game. There are no answers out there and even LGP gave a response of "we'll get back to you" and never did.

I got everything else working perfectly under this distro. Only Majesty won't work. And it's only saving games.

With both SELinux disabled and Execshield set to 0, what could be left that's causing this not to work. This game was one of the things that convinced me moving to Linux from Windows was OK, now I don't even have that to fall back on.
