I am running RTCW 1.41 and when I save a game it says that it is saved. It even shows it in the menu until I leave the game and restart it. When I come back to it the saved games are not there.
Also, in multiplayer punkbuster will not stay enabled. I enabled it when I first installed it, and have been playing with it enabled. Then it just won't turn on. I never turn my computer off so I can't imagine much has changed in 12 hours.
Could playing the game as root have anything to do with this? Thanks for rthe help.
Distribution: K/Ubuntu 18.04-14.04, Scientific Linux 6.3-6.4, Android-x86, Pretty much all distros at one point...

You are playing the game as root???
That's a huge mistake... You should never run games and the like as root,... you risk exploits, nerfing your system, etc. It's just "Not Done."
If you can't play a game that you installed as root, it's better to uninstall it and install it as a local user, and run the game through that account.
