About Gentoo network config


Hi folks,

Gentoo-amd64 Workstation

I'm running ADSL broadband with dynamic IP address

Connnetion :-
Ethernet --> ADSL modem --> telephone line
(only one ethernet card)

What information shall I enter on /etc/hosts ?

What items shall I uncomment on /etc/conf.d/net.example ?? and copy it /etc/conf.d/net

You don't need to enter anything in /etc/hosts ,but 'config_eth0="null"' in /etc/conf.d/net.Make sure you have pppoe configured in your kernel,and rp-pppoe installed.You can setup adsl by typing pppoe-setup,and start server by typing pppoe-start
