Kubuntu 9.04: Is there a way to downgrade XServer to 1.5.x?

Is there a way to downgrade XServer to 1.5.x? By default, it is isntalled newest 1.6.0 which doesn't work at all with ATI fglrx drivers. So, I am forced to use default open drivers where I dont have 3D acelleration. I have x2300 (RV525 I believe).

Has anyone done it? Is this a bad idea? Is patience==salvation?

Any ideas?
Emil

I asked you the same question on another thread so I'll repeat it here:
Quote:
I'm not sure I understand. I have fglrx operational with 7.3+10. The ATI site says, "Automated installer and Display Drivers for X.Org 6.7, 6.8, 6.9, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, or 7.4". Was that a typo? did you mean 7.6 and not 1.6 in your post? If not I don't understand where you're getting your version numbers from.
cheers,
jdk

OK, I got it. It's xserver-xorg-core now at version 1.4.2-11 in Debian/testing. I agree - downloading is not recommended.
cheers,
jdk
