How can I update from Kubuntu 7.10 to Kubuntu 8.10 without loosing my files?

Hey, as far as i am aware, you will have to go to 8.04 then to 8.10, might be rong though,, but in adept there is an option for system upgrade, click on that, and it will install all the new and upgraded packages for the new releases. 8.10 uses kde 4.1 as default though.
