I must say that I find this somewhat out of place at a technical website with participants of many different cultures and backgrounds from all around the world, whose primary thing is common is a computer operating system.
It may be fruitful to consider the sentiment expressed in Matthew 6:5.

Hi...
I disagree, this is the "General" forum, where all topics are permitted.

In the General forum indeed almost everything is considered on topic. That doesn't mean LQ members can't actively (by engaging in discussion) or passively (ignoring) make a choice about personally or generally accepting a fellow members expression. Finally one obviously can ask a moderator to intervene but if I where to do so I'd rather like to see some open-minded discussion asking the OP to "rein it in" a bit. (Obviously if I've missed that please correct.)

I think that's a good point for Fixit7 (and nobody else) to respond to.
Most of our unchurched friends would actually like to hear about our faith.
79% don't mind us talking about our faith.
50% would accept an invitation to attend church.
We never know how God can use our story, and even though the other person may no react or even react negatively, that doesn't mean God isn't using it to work in their life.

Would love to know where you got this.

Most of the time, such unsolicited advice is received negatively, and the overall effect is that such things are view even more badly than they might have been before.
Replace "unchurched friends" with "non-golf players" (or any other group), and see if talking about your passion/hobby/etc., with someone who has no interest, is well received.

You have free choice to ignore any post, especially if it bothers you so.
I do not criticize any one who posts here and it's reasonable to expect the same from others.

Likewise you have the choice to use your personal LQ web log for posting such things. Would you have a problem with solely posting religious expressions there?

I though you where prohibited from using any arguments but just turn the other cheek?.. ;-p
We know that you love us as evidenced by your son Jesus giving his life for us.
We ask that you stop un-solicted calls to us.
We do not deserve anything but your wrath, but we ask this because we know you love us.
We ask this in Your son's name, Amen.
That perhaps you meant un-solicited phone calls, which nobody wants, except telemarketers
and your phone company, as they make lot$ of ca$h from marketers.
If you meant something else, could you please clarify?
I don't regard any post in this forum as an unsolicited attempt at anything. It's my
choice to read it or ignore.
