No. I can not understand the mindset of someone who says
they would kill over a stinking web browser.

doesn't anybody know how to type in 'webbrowser' into a search engine? or even go to an open source website and do this? I mean... if it was something less common line a midi editor or something to flush your toilet in the middle of the night (mechanical actuator plugged into an x10 module controled by a linux box anybody?)... I could understand asking for help...

Aside from that... I know customizing a box is great and all... But I've recently stared giving up on finding better options unless there is a need to... why would you need to replace firefox? Does the thought of a burning vulpine disturb you? I assure you, they are 100% magical and the fire only makes it go faster.

lumak, consider using a dictionary ...
It's a default search engine in Firefox.

webbrowser = web browser
change "type in webbrowser into" -- use "type into web browser"
line = like
controled = controlled
stared = started
sweat = sweet

The OP wanted opinions from real users ... not Google
searches of available web browsers.

My actuator didn't activate last night, because the
water was cut off. Toilet is now full of poop.

I've been an Opera lover since 1996. I've tried to like others, but have run the gammut, AOL Browser, netscape, ie5, ie6 etc, konqurer, linx, firefox, safari, and the latest ie nightmare.
Opera has ALWAYS been the best of the lot. It's always been the most customizable, ( is that a word), and always stable. I have used it under win 95, 98, ME, XP, Vista, as well as various linux flavors since Red Hat 7.2, and again, although I try others, I keep shaking my head and going back to Opera

Opera the most customizable?

Iceweasel and I used Epiphany and that is also nice.
I used to use firefox but I hate the new direction.

As for testing your site:

woh, that's awesome. thanks for link

Oh as far as my typing goes... I generally just check that there are no red lines

Nothing I type is really of any use to anybody. I'm actually surprised that anybody reads my posts at all... They probably haven't learned to avoid them yet.

I've just found that my new utility company's website won't display in Firefox: it's probably something to do with the 48 errors in the css. So, I downloaded Opera and it accepted the rubbish. It's so much faster that I shall probably stick with it.

Incidentally, the site actually claims that it can be viewed in all modern web-browsers. I sent them some feedback on that, finding in the process that the secure connection was reported as unconfirmable; they had forgotten the "www" in their site name when getting it certified! How do major companies employ such idiots to create their sites?

This is an issue with Firefox, though. It may be correct to ignore badly-written code, but it's obviously more convient for the user if a browser has a go and does the best it can.

I use Internet Explorer mostly.

I run Linux in VMware in Windows, no sense installing a browser in Linux, and just like the quote above...why install another browser in Windows?. The biggest mistake most people make with Windows is install too much useless/needless crap that slows down the system.
I also have some stand alone Linux installations, of course I don't use IE in them.

I use "links -g" (way faster than the others and can be set up to use external programs.)
But for more complicated webpages I use opera (has a smaller footprint than the mozilla based browsers).

also.. while we are being picky

Please continue using your closed non-standards compliant proprietary crap eh.. In fact, why don't you leave us FOSS users alone and take your half baked M$ fanboyism somewhere it will be appreciated.. Disney have a few lovely sites.

I will not have M$ software on my machines.. I don't even like using it on other peoples hardware. Puppy is far better than anything M$ have ever made.

Browsers?.. I quite like kazehakase, it could do with a little more polish, but it's a nice sleek and fast browser.
Oddly one thing which I do find is missing is a css enabled browser which needs less than 16Mb's of ram. All seem to be too modern which is a pain when you need a nice little browser for an old 32Mb laptop. Dillo isn't a serious option, you can't post on many sites wit it.

Sorry Bruce. I fight my corner with these "run to windows at the first little problem" vmware idiots on a daily basis. Think they know it all, when in reality they are still tied to Bill's apron strings.
