Check for paper

Posted 12-02-2011 at 11:08 AM by FredGSanford

The other day while at home, I was doing some surfing and needed to print some info. I was using Salix OS, a Slackware based distro, but made easier to use. So I begin to print and noticed nothing was coming out of the printer. Mind you I have an older Brother AIO which works fine under RPM and DEB file format distros, but for Salix/Slackware, I had to use the tarball format. So it can get a little tricky. I had the printer working for a few weeks up until this moment.

So the next...

Big Muddy Blues Festival

Posted 09-05-2011 at 04:51 PM by FredGSanford

Saturday and Sunday night, me and the wife went to the St. Louis 'Big Muddy Blues Festival' downtown on the Mississippi Riverfront...I had a wonderful time and the one band was super good, they ended the night with a Howlin' Wolf's song, Shake it for Me.

This is held every September but the first time I've attended it. I'll keep an eye out for it next year. I guess its the last outdoor concert to end summer.

The Clear Spot is a 4G personal hotspot that lets you connect up to 8 wireless devices, everywhere you go in the Clear coverage area.

I had been using the On-the-Go USB wireless device but wasn't satisfied since it wouldn't work with Linux or PPC Macs, so I decided to switch for a home modem at first but noticed the hot spot router....

Debian Testing

Posted 08-15-2009 at 07:33 PM by FredGSanford

About three weeks or so ago I installed Debian on a Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop and everything was going pretty smooth.

I did a netinst with LXDE desktop and plugging in my USB Dell 2 button wheel mouse worked. It has the 2.6.26 kernel.

Around Aug, 09, I did a safe-upgrade and now the mouse is not working at all. The touchpad continues to work.

When I run dmesg | tail, I see 'New USB device found' after unplugging & re plugging the mouse in the port....
