Do you us a Social web site like facebook, myspace, etc?

Curious if Linux users are big on the Social web sites, like facebook, Myspace, orkut, twitter, and the music sites like last.fm.

What sites do you use?

what does this have to do with Linux, just because someone likes OpenSource or Linux does not imply they would be pro or con social networking sites. There really is no correlation between the two.

to answer your questions though i have an account with both facebook and myspace but rarely sign in. when you work 12-16 hours a day in front of a computer, coming home and turning one on is the last thing on my mind. Also, the retarded app requests and requests for friends from people that i dont know really annoys me.

I don't use either. To me its just like a high school hang out for all the 'better-than-you' crowd, and people who have a myspace think that now they are are 'cool' web-designers. PFF! I also prefer to stay away from any medium owned by Rupert Murdoch.

I tried Orkut but it's boring. Twitter isn't for me - I have an account jut because someone I knew started one and started posting there. I tried Pandora or whatever it was called and it didn't work that well for me.

I'm an IRC guy...you post and it is never kept. I barely touch forums...

I only have myspace to find Indie bands. Facebook is evil, well so is myspace but I don't give them my real name or any info except where I sign in from when I do.

I never understood twitter. I can't be bothered with people updating me with their whereabouts all day every day. I mean, I can really care less what you do all day or if you're watching tv, drinking coffee or whatever you add as updates on your profile. Maybe I'll sign up, get my friends to subscribe to my feeds and only update them when I'm taking a crap... cause that's interesting to everyone I guess..

I do the facebook thing because a lot of people I know and lost touch with kept inviting me. I tried twitter and got bored after a short time. Myspace is evil (as Trickykid says) and I don't want to run with that crowd....

Yeah, Myspace is just as evil. Like I said, I only use it to find bands. Other than that, social websites are cesspools of the internet. I'd rather have real physical friends than a bunch of people passing comments back and forth on a website. I guess I just don't understand the big deal about how glittery the photo you post the cooler you are or something..

I use facebook, orkut and twitter. I found facebook a lot better than orkut, but I still use Orkut for some hardcore friends who like it. Kinda like ICQ: I want to get rid of it, but there are still some using it.

I use MySpace a lot, mostly for my podcast page and to a lesser degree, my personal page. Tricky, you might be interested in the friends list on my joesjukeboxpodcast page - there are several bands there with great music that I've since played on my show. I don't know your musical interest, but never know . . . might find something.

Who needs a social networking site when they've got LQ?

Well, I am a member of DeviantArt (http://ishara.deviantart.com). Actually, you should definitely do a search for "Linux" if you ever visit the site. There is some AWESOME Linux artwork there.
