No. GNOME Shell does not have a miniature dock or white window borders. Instead, it is all black and dark gray, with some RGBA gamma (transparency) here and there, especially in the application (window) menu, pop-down calendar and user switch menu.

The iPhone is much different. It has blue scroll bars and white window borders. It also has a small-scale dock at the bottom of the screen, something GNOME Shell does not have. And the iPhone does NOT have an overview, an application menu, or a user switcher. It may have a calendar, but it's an application, not a panel pop-down.

I have an Iphone it looks the same. Window borders being different colors is hardly noticeable when you are looking at a rectangular black field covered in apps... I mean icons.

Once upon a time, there was an island where the only inhabitants were Orcs and Gnomes. The Orcs used to eat the Gnomes, but when they'd eaten them all up, they had to start fishing. But fish were no real substitute. Every day you would hear Orcs say: "There's no plaice like Gnome."

A very clever Orc scientist genetically modified the fish so they tasted like Gnomes...and they all lived happily ever after.

P.S.
Sorry, Kenny. Wrong Gnome again.

If I have to say it again, I will ban you from my blog. It's the DE, not the ape.

Whatever. I'm just saying that ridiculing the GNOME desktop environment or any FOSS is flame bait and therefore in violation of Rule #2 in my Blog Code Of Conduct.

And it is not just flame bait to me: If Miguel de Icaza, Federico Mena, or any other active developer of the GNOME desktop environment saw that humor, they would be appalled. Ridiculing FOSS is no laughing matter. Do so and expect to turn a million people against you. Once again, that is flame bait, and if you keep it up, you will be banned from my blog via the ignore list.

What about the blue scrollbars?

My scrollbar is black/grey to the point of not being very visisble. My Iphone has a tiny grey one that's not very visible. They look the same.

BTW: This is a thread in General, not your blog, and why do you need a code of conduct for your blog in the first place?

B&BTW: I don't really care about the Gnome/Iphone identity crisis. I'm actually using mac4linux theme on Gnome.

Kenny, take it easy. Nobody is ridiculing anything. You've been here for some time and you must have noticed that we do like to take things very lightly from time to time. Reacting in such an disproportionately serious manner is not really going to help much.

btw, this reminds me of some recent episode of my favourite cartoon

This is true, the General forum is, by it's nature, a place where silly comments happen. However, I have said previously that this needs to remain on topic. So do that - EVERYONE.

Okay, Xavier. I, the OP, really did not take it off topic; in fact, am trying to put the thread back on topic. This topic is about the GNOME Desktop Environment, not garden gnomes, and brianL decided to bring the latter into the discussion when it wasn't even related to the topic at hand and also is flame bait to potential guests to LQ.

But brianL's comments were much funnier than my Iphone and desktop merging.

It was off-topic, but I don't think brianL intended to put down the GNOME project.
