I can't here sound in debian -testing version


hi there i just install debian sarge on my laptop, it pretty fontend (gui), the nice part is my direct rendering is enable cool. i have two problem i can't here sound, but when i do a mistake in the bash prompt, such like pushing the tab key twice then i could here a beap. so i try to run alsaconf but it say command not found, i download it by using apt-get, it install it, and it detect my two sound cards, so i pick the one that i want, and i use in slackwere, before. but still can't here sound, then i try to run alsamixer but i get this error function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such device. then i try to run gnome mixer i put the volume full up, it. but no work. then on i try to run xmms on the command line it also command libmikmod.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. so i don't the libmikmod.so.2, and comple it try to run xmms still the same problem. at least >i play in totem i here very wired noise<

if you have intel8x0 sound card, add snd-intel8x0m to /etc/hotplug/blacklist
