gloves for my feet - part 2

Posted 01-25-2011 at 03:06 PM by Tinkster

The fivefingers are truly amazing. Reached a stage where
I can wear them for extended periods of time on a daily
basis, doing my walks around town and on bush-walks within
the city on a regular basis.

My feet hate being in "normal shoes", even my extra wide
asics feel unpleasantly tight.

I think my posture has improved, and my muscles (calves
and hamstrings) are now coping well w/ the "unusual exercise".

My passtimes ... b) tramping (No, not loose women. Hiking!)

Posted 01-20-2011 at 10:47 PM by Tinkster

Love the great outdoors, and would spend more time in the bush
or the mountain tops if time-restrictions weren't an issue.

Pretty much spend all of my vacations and the odd weekend
walking with a heavy backpack, and am planning on doing so
this weekend. Weather shouldn't be too atrocious, and it
will make for a good opportunity to test my new tent.

gloves for my feet!!

Posted 01-19-2011 at 06:28 PM by Tinkster

For a week now I've owned a pair of VIBRAM FiveFingers KSO.

After a slow 3 days wearing them around house and garden for short
periods of time I took them for a walk to and from work (including
occasional running) two times this week - granting my feet (and the
shoes) the recommended one day break for novices.

What an amazing feeling - it's like walking barefoot w/o the risk
of cutting your feet on sharp rocks or broken glass.

And an on request entry ... porridge recipe!

Posted 02-24-2010 at 03:51 AM by Tinkster

Not much of a blog, entry, I admit, but it's one
of my standard breakfast dishes, and I've been
asked to put it up here ... so here we go.

Code:
Ingredients
50g whole grain oats
150ml milk
2 dry figs (roughly 35 g)
1 banana
25g walnut pieces
1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions
Chop up the figs, mix with oats, add milk and soak
over night. In the morning boil the porridge up as
usual, add milk as

My passtimes ... a) cooking & entertaining

Posted 02-23-2010 at 11:08 AM by Tinkster

I love good food, and - naturally, I think? - love cooking.
Have a few dishes I'd call my signature dishes, and only a
few years ago added baking to the repertoire.

There's a few cakes I quite enjoy making, and sharing with
people, usually taking them into work where they vanish
within 10 minutes to my great delight :}

One of my personal favourites is my Orange-Polenta-Rosemary
cake, the recipe for which I'll post here today; sorry...
