gloves for my feet!!

For a week now I've owned a pair of VIBRAM FiveFingers KSO.
After a slow 3 days wearing them around house and garden for short
periods of time I took them for a walk to and from work (including
occasional running) two times this week - granting my feet (and the
shoes) the recommended one day break for novices.
What an amazing feeling - it's like walking barefoot w/o the risk
of cutting your feet on sharp rocks or broken glass.
Loving it so far, even though the different style of walking and
running one adapts uses muscles differently, and uses some muscles
one wouldn't normally use in the infamous heal-strike that strongly
padded sneakers taught us to use over years. So I find myself a
tad sore, hamstrings, calves, and yes, even DOMS in some muscels
in the feet.
After only one day of extended use of the VFFs my toes feel unhappy
being wedged into my expensive sneakers, not to mention the work-shoes!

Is that why people stomp all the time? So annoying! it's like they are trying to make you hear them walk... especially on the second floor. I never walk like that.

These feet gloves intrigue me. I've read the other 2 parts, and am curious to know ... Are they sturdy? They look a little on the 'flexible' side, Presumably to maintain a certain degree of comfort, But if you where to be lost in the woods, are these the shoes you want to wear for the next 2 months?
I hitch-hiked for a number of years, and I am big on well-built clothing (this includes footwear) that can be used for a long time, and still handle various terrains without compromising their structural integrity ... Sorry for the late response, I rarely find the time to blog, or check for comments; they're not sturdy at all - that's the whole idea behind them. I'd be happy to wear them for two months, and I feel that they'd do a better job in the bush than they do in an urban environment (and I'd expect them [their soles, anyway] to last longer there).
They won't last as long as my tramping boots (Meindl), but they are also just a quarter of the price. If I only wear them tramping, and that's maybe 20 days a year if I'm lucky, I reckon I should get a good life-span out of them. That all said: I don't think I'd try alpine or winter tramps, just because of the risk of frost bite.Posted 07-25-2011 at 04:19 AM by Tinkster
