Run your Slackware 64 bit system with the latest stable kernel – 3.17.1!

Posted 10-15-2014 at 05:13 PM by exton (Exton's Blog)

I have compiled a very useful (as I think) 64 bit kernel for Slackware 12.0 – 14.1 and/or all Slackware derivatives. For example Slax, Zenwalk, SlackEX and Exton|Defender. The kernel is compiled exactly the same way as Slackware’s latest kernel huge. “My” kernel 3.17.1-x86_64-exton has even more support for new hardware, etc. Kernel 3.17.1 is the latest stable kernel available from Kernel.org. Released today (141015).

Posted 07-27-2014 at 10:05 AM by exton (Exton's Blog)
Updated 07-27-2014 at 01:11 PM by exton

CruxEX 3.1 2014 64bit Linux Live USB is based on CRUX 3.1 (latest version, released 140716), which is all Linux enthusiasts/nerds favorite OS. (CRUX 3.1 is a lightweight Linux distribution for the x86-64 architecture targeted at experienced Linux users). CruxEX 3.1 2014 uses the LXDE Desktop environment. I have replaced the original CRUX kernel 3.12.24 with “my” special kernel 3.15.6-x86_64-exton, with support for “extra everything”. Kernel 3.15.6 is the latest available stable kernel...
