Yet another new version of exGENT (Gentoo) with LXDE

I’ve made a new version (130415) of exGENT, which is based on Gentoo. The old version of exGENT is from 130318. My new exGENT Linux live system uses LXDE as Desktop Environment and “my special” genkernel 3.7.10-gentoo-exton. LXDE is used because of its speed. Quite new is that I’ve found a suitable installation program, in which a Grub installation (Grub Legacy) is included. I’ve also added even more support för Atheros and Broadcom wireless cards in version 130415.

Running a free Gentoo

Gentoo is overall a great distribution, but unfortunately it is not dedicated to free software with the same determination as distributions like Trisquel and gNewSense. If you have been running Gentoo for a while, but are not familiar with this issue, you may be surprise to learn how much non-free software is in your system, from application software to the kernel.

Retrobattle available for Gentoo

There is now a package in Gentoo Portage for Retrobattle. Just "emerge retrobattle". (You may have to unmask it first.)

Retrobattle is a retro-style arcade game by Daniel Remar and Andreas Remar. It's like of one of the early NES games where you move a character around a maze on a screen, shooting stuff (robots, gigantic snakes...) and collecting items (coins, super weapons...). Authentic look and feel, although somehow "smoother" than the old games I remember....
