Update: with kernel 3.9.11 I've had good luck with rt2800pci (driver in the Linux kernel) instead of Broadcom's rt2860sta driver. I can also connect to 5GHz networks with this driver.

If you can't/don't want to update your kernel to a later version, here are your options:

Stay with the same kernel version and utilize backports to use a newer driver with an older kernel. This is the new name for compat-wireless. See here: https://backports.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Main_Page.

Hello, I'm writing this to help out anyone who has wasted days trying to get their MCE remote or Media Center Edition Transceiver working with a newer kernel (3.3.4) and new Lirc (.9). As you may know, mceusb was once built into lirc but now it is in the mainline kernel and there's very little documentation-wise to help us figure it out. Here are the steps to get it working in the new environment (this is for Gentoo but other distros should be similar):

distribute a program in a quad machine.

Hi guys,
Im a newbie and need your support.
While I was running a huge fortran program, i found that my quad machine uses only one processor (the other three are more or less idle). Is there any way to distribute load to these idle processors ?
