How to set up SQLite database as a (read-only) bibliography database in the LibreOffice/OpenOffice

Posted 10-24-2013 at 02:49 AM by Yury_T

Folks have not-so-positive experience with the LibO/OOO default bibliography database, what with it being effectively either of HSQLDB or CSV text type, for one. One would want to have more choice as to the database type, and to have it storaged more effectively, and in single file, preferrably. Also, there are many popular tools for other database engines, and HSQLDB seems somewhat isolated in this aspect, restricted to all-Java projects, too.

E.g., you might want to have two sets...

Extending my Raspberry Pi server cluster

Posted 10-23-2013 at 12:36 PM by Pyplate

I've added another 4 nodes to my Raspberry Pi server cluster. I posted links to my site on Reddit and some other social networking sites. I'm hoping to get a large hit of traffic so that I can see how my server performs.

In the past my server has handled 2800 visits in one day. I'm hoping to break that record soon, and hopefully without my server slowing down too much.

Testing my Odroid in my server cluster

Posted 10-23-2013 at 07:10 AM by Pyplate

After adding my Odroid U2 to my cluster, I ran tests using siege on the front end of the cluster. There was an increase in performance, but it wasn't the increase I was hoping for. I logged into some of the Pi nodes using ssh and ran uptime to check the load. The Pi nodes weren't working particularly hard, and neither was the Odroid. I logged into the load balancer and checked the uptime and memory usage:
Code:
$ uptime
 13:30:04 up 1 day,  5:20,  1 user,  load average: 9.27, 3.52, 1.33

Plex media server for Slackware

Posted 10-22-2013 at 12:50 PM by trxdraxon (The adventures of your average linux user)
Updated 09-16-2021 at 05:57 AM by trxdraxon

I got Plex media server up and running smoothly on my Slackware box and thought I would share my experience. It is pretty easy to get running but there is little to no documentation for Slackware as it is not officially supported.

EDIT: Forgot to add that the package is 32bit so you will need multilib installed.

First install the uNRAID package. Once it's installed there is a settings.ini in /boot/config/plugins/plexmediaserver that you should edit. You can edit...
