What to use?

There's so much OSS around us it's hard to know what or where to start.

I just heard of a cool new open stuff: Newscoop, a newspaper content management system. I like to write and publish, I like CM systems. The problem is that Source Fabric, the releasing organization, has also released another really cool system, for radio broadcasting.

Similar story for this: Libre Graphics magazine. I love it, it's origins are a great example of what people can do on a whim and...

mounting remote directory through ssh

The sshfs package can be used to fuse mount remote directories.

For example, a remote apt-get archive could be mounted as a rough way of sharing the package cache:
sshfs server:/var/cache/apt/archives /var/cache/apt/archives
And then unmounted later:
fusermount -u /var/cache/apt/archives
This method can be automated by setting up an entry in /etc/fstab (this works best if the ssh login is done through a PKI...

Well I have been adding to my list of Debian sites. I had started with a list of Linux sites for newbies , but I had to break the Debian stuff out as it was getting long by itself.

How to install Adobe Flash Player for Red Hat Linux

Being a Linux newbym, seems to take me 3 times as long to install stuff on Linux than it did on Windows --arghhh.
I needed to install a new version of Flash Player today as one of my work applications needed version flash-plugin- or higher.
I went to the Adobe site and downloaded the package, but could not find instructions how to do that.
Using my limited knowledge and some info from forums, I downloaded it in the Flash Player folder and tryed...
