RIP Asus eeepc 1001ha

Posted 05-28-2022 at 03:42 PM by brianL

Recently booted this slow little ****er up, and got a splash screen announcing that the CMOS battery was dead. So I checked online what battery I needed, and how to replace it. Turned out I more or less had to take the whole thing to pieces to get at the battery. I'd already, a couple of years ago, taken it apart to replace the HDD with an SSD. This time involved even more disassembly. I was as gentle as possible, but two clips holding ribbon cables broke off, plus the motherboard was damaged. The patient did not survive the operation. Gone, and soon forgotten.
