Ubuntu 6.06 - Backup server ideas

Im planning on setting the ubuntu server version, up as a backup server.
I have to connect 2 windows based computer and one ubuntu based computer, to the server.
So heres my idea so far:
For the linux im going to setup nfs, and mount the share on boot. For the 2 Win based machines, im going to setup samba.
Does it sound silly?
Should i create user for all 3 of the computers, or should i just use one, and specify different folders?

What say u?

the nfs and samba ideas sound fine. I don't know about the 3 different accounts. If its just a backup, why not have one login and you can use it on all 3 machines, unless you don't want the all the workstations to be able to access all the same files.

I'd take a look at the backup application before configuring the backup server. Rsync seems to be a favorite and I've used Unison which runs on both Windows and Linux.
