Game server control setup ideas

Hi guys

I have a game server, and was wondering what the best way to ontrol it would be, I know they have there own control panel for starting stopping etc, but i,m more interested in actually editing the config files.

Now, I do know PHP, and a web page type interface would be ideal, but i,m not to sure what technologies are available to accomplish this.

Does anyone have any idea's, or has attempted something along these lines?

if all you want to do is edit files, why not just ssh into the machine and fire up emacs, nano, vim, ed, sed, cat or whatever editor you prefer?

If you go with ssh, you probably also want to use screen, but I'll leave that to you. Google is you friend.
