Odd Ubuntu 9.10 only loading one cpu

It's a shuttle SN78SH7 with 4 gig of ram Cruical ram 64 bit Unbuntu latest kernel

Recently it started only loading up one cpu rebooting it several times eventually fixed it but then this wouldn't fix it.

Disabling acpi in the grub menu fixed the problem and it now loads all cpu's.

However it did work so apart from Linux behaving like winblows has anyone else see this on this setup.

My experience with Shuttle motherboards has been awful. This might be a sign that your motherboard is giving out.

Hope not although this one always has been a bit twitchy. Works fine with acpi disabled except it doesn't shut down.

Got another shuttle different type which likes eating cruical memory.

This makes my recommendation that you replace it even stronger. This is exactly the behavior that I had with them just before they gave out.

I would get rid of this one also.

My experience has been that only asus (and maybe abit or MSI) works well for AMD CPUs, and only intel or supermicro are good for intel CPUs.
