Network responds slowly in Edgy, nforce3

The network is not slow, but there is a lag of 15 to 20 seconds before a page loads in firefox. Synaptic seems to work fine, and downloads run about 70kbps,around half max speed for my connection. It just seems to hang while loading pages in the browser.

I'm also on nForce3 and never had such trouble, I've been with Dapper, Edgy and now Feisty, and network works. The problem might be with Firefox or one of its plugins, or... is it swapping to/from disk? Although Firefox is quite a bit lighter than Mozilla, it still "eats" a significant amount of RAM.

The network runs at full speed, it's just that firefox sits for a while before loading a page. Transfer speeds seem fine.I don't know, I'm still distro-hopping, so whatever.

Fixed it. network dns requests in about:config. Set it to 64 and things zip along now.
