Konqueror resolving network address v. slowly (Knoppix 3.7 HD install)

Hi all,

I have a Knoppix 3.7 HD install. When I use Konqueror to look at a web page on a webserver on the LAN, it takes absolutely ages (i.e. 2 minutes) to show the page.

The actual IP address and domain name has been manually entered in the /etc/hosts file. If I ping the address it responds quickly. If I use Lynx or Mozilla to view the web page, it appears immediately.

So the problem only afflicts Konq. but I'm at a loss to know why!

Can anyone suggest what I should look at next?

Thanks in advance!

Peter.

FYI: I'm technically not a n00b as I've been noodling around with Linux for years.... but I still don't know the half of it, so I guess... yes, I'm sure, I'm still a n00b!
