I'm a newbie running Novell (suse) linux, and using samba, Ive got the network connection running, however it is excrusiatingly slow particulally on the internet, not so much with transfering files from other computers, in this case it is more of a delay before it start to transfer + too slow to open files directly from other machines.
I'm networked through a netgear adsl router, my 2 win xp machines work fine, and all the cables and card etc are the same for 1 of the 2 machines and that connects fine
any ideas anybody? or somewhere to start?

What are you Nix box specs? Mine ran slow until I upgraded the kernel. Are you using your Nix box as a proxy server?

just thought by nix box do u mean linux box? if u did I should probly know that should i? if you do, no im not using it as a proxy, and its a dell with a pentium 3 5 something mhz with 300 odd memory, with 80gig hard drive
