diable compiz on ubuntu 8.10


many of the programmes i run dont get on too well with compiz.
but work fine with matacity

at the moment im issueing a
metacity --replace
command whenever i need to turn compiz off

how would i set it so metactiy is the default window manager all the time?

System/Pref/Appearance/Visual Effects... Choose None. I believe that completely disables compiz, and achieves the same results as your terminal command.

Yes, I have to turn off Visual Effects in order to use OpenOffice. Otherwise, the menus don't display correctly.
