cups print jobs don't stop processing

I use (K)Ubuntu 5.10 printing with Cups to an HP Jetdirect network printer. If there are no jobs present, I can print to the printer fine. When the job is complete, however, cups still sees the job as "processing..." and it blocks printing of any other jobs until I manually go in and remove/cancel the completed job. This seems to happen with any file I print. I've tried the printer test page, a 5 page pdf file, and an opendocument file. In each case, the file is printed correctly, but I have to go in and delete/cancel the printing to free up the printer. Anyone can help? This wasn't a problem in the past.

I rebooted my PC and the problem seems to have disappeared.
