cups aborts print jobs

I have this weird problem with cups, hope anyone can help me.

whenever I print a 'large' job cups aborts it automaticly, if I were then to select 'restart job' in the web interface it says: client-error-not-possible.

however when I just open a document, write the word 'test' in it and print it, it wil print.
if I do 'echo test | lpr' it will print to.
the problem occurs when I want to print > 2 pages or so.
