In the BIOS download file there is a pdf file with a BIOS installation guide. All good reading.

Tiger.Woods,
So did you successfully flash your BIOS in linux or DOS? If yes, please tell us how you did it. I would be genuinely interested in knowing how you did it, since this is one of the more vexing problems that linux users can face.

Sorry, for not posting back.

I did indeed get it flashed, after it was pointed out that the utility was right in front of my face I was able to create a bootable CD following the guide on this site:

http://www.linuxinsight.com/how-to-f...ppy-drive.html

My only concern with this process is if the files needed are larger than a 1.44 floppy your back to finding another way to move files, etc. I made a coaster or 2 but was able to get it done.

This really needs to be addressed by the Linux community as it's such a basic need but I'm fairly a newb to Linux and learning as I go. Even though the information for Linux is abundant and readily available so is the amount of mis-information or versioning issues that accompany the same. Things that take 2 minutes on a Windows machine to resolve take hours on Linux just because...

You guys at LinuxQuestions are awesome! and much appreciated.. keep up the great work.

TW,

You can do the same thing with a bootable CD in place of a bootable floppy disc. In the tutorial that you linked to, see the section:
Step 3: Burn a bootable CD which will emulate floppy device for us

You can also see these tutorials from the Ubuntu forums which discuss the same procedure:
