apt-get is not working with proxy

Hi Ive been trying to setup apt-get to work with my proxy "it wont work without it" and I have not had any luck till now ..below is my apt.conf file..apt-get update executes successfully but apt-get install resolves the hostnames and just waits for headers untill it times out..

Acquire::http::Proxy "http://192.168.0.1:8080";

root@Cyber-ALInux:/home/alinux# apt-get install kmess

E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with --fix-missing?

Hi

I remember I once had some similar problems. I think I solved it by setting the http_proxy variable as well.

export http_proxy="http://192.168.0.1:8080"

might help.
