version of git that works with suse 9.3

Hi there --

Does anyone know what version of git works with the SuSE 9.3 distribution?

Also, is git bundled as a package with that version of SuSE?

Have you looked through your package manager? There is likely to be a version in there.

Hi there --

I did check the package manager since posting my initial question. The git application does not appear to be included as a package.

When I did a search for 'git' the listing of packages did not include git as its own package.

The tarballs are here: http://www.kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/ and I think you will have to experiment to see which version applies to your (very old) version of Suse as the dependencies the various versions require will differ.

http://forums.opensuse.org/archives/...using-git.html may be of help.
