Unable to Activate FAM under YaST (SuSE 9.2)

Tried to enable the file access monitoring function under YaST (both Simple and Expert mode).
YaST -> Runleve Editore -> FAM -> Enable
but got the following message.

Quote:
/etc/init.d/boot.clock start returned 0 (success):
Setting up the CMOS clock..done
/etc/init.d/fam start returned 7 (program is not running):
Starting File Access Monitoring Daemon..failed
any idea how to enable FAM?

I had to install fam-server to make this work. Not 100% sure if this was the right solution. Anybody else having
this problem?
