Unable to activate eri0 and ce0 interfaces

hi guys,
on my solaris machine I have two network interfaces:

- eri0
- ce0,ce1,ce2,ce3 ( SUN Quad GigaSwift Ethernet card)

In my /etc/hosts file I have defined 3 IP addresses with 3 respective hostnames.

I have then created

- /etc/hostname.eri0
- /etc/hostname.ce0
- /etc/hostname.ce3

Each of these files containing the hostname specified in the /etc/hosts file for the wanted IP address.

I have then activated the eri0, ce0, ce3 interfaces in the following way:

ifconfig eri0 plump
ifconfig eri0 <IP> netmask <netmask> up

DONE THIS FOR THE OTHER 2 ce0, ce3 also..

I am only able to telnet to the machine using the interface which has the LOHHOST ip address...while I am not able to telnet to it using the other 2 interfeces... any idea??
