the so called wpa-support in Suse Pro 9.2
Trying to get Suse pro 9.2 "with built in support for WPA" to actually connect me to my wireless access point (wap) has turned out to be a real disapointment.
The built in support turned out to be wpa_supplicant and ndis_wrapper. The same stuff some have been using for quite some time regardless of distro. None of them installed during setup, even though I specified the use of wpa on my wireless card during install. Not a clue where given to the fact that further configuration and tinkering where needed. Not very user friendly.
This is of course not really a problem for experienced users of Linux, but it goes to show that marketing can set expectations on a level that guarantees customer disapointment.
Edited...
I finally got it working, partly to luck, partly to getting some clarifying answers rearding the use of madwifi/ndiswrapper.
