For some reason I am getting an error while modprobing ndiswrapper, after installing the driver. I have installed ndiswrapper easily on Mandrake, but now on SuSE 9.2 I get an error.
So, I install the drive by doing ndiswrapper -l "/media/bla/bla/driver.inf". Then I check to make sure it went well and do ndiswrapper -l. It shows my driver with "driver present, hardware present". I type ndiswrapper -m to write the modprobe stuff, everything goes well. Then, I type modprobe ndiswrapper and it comes up with this error:
Quote:
FATAL: Error inserting ndiswrapper (/lib/modules/2.6.8-24-smp/extra/ndiswrapper.ko): Invalid module format
Apart from removing ndiswrapper.ko from /lib/modules/`uname -r`/misc/ (as indicated in the "Uninstall" instructions), I also had to remove it from /lib/modules/`uname -r`/extra/
I had tried to install it from my SuSE disc... by the way, how do I get to it when I installed it from the SuSE disc? Dumb question, but I'm still learning =P
Ugh...nevermind. Everything appears to be fine. I'm following the guide on ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net and doing everything as it says, and everything is coming out right, but I just cannot connect to the internet. I know SuSE has a firewall, would this cause it? Also, recently SuSE has begun freezing randomly... I used the driver (.inf) that came with my wireless card... would that be why? I know it said not to... but heh.
Heh.. I'm going to reinstall SuSE... bah when I got SuSE, I never knew it had "problems". Like I know if you know what you're doing, you'll get it, but even then, you got to do extra stuff.
