Another 'modprobe ndiswrapper' error

I know there's been plenty asked about this problem and I've yet to find a solution for this error, I've trawled through a lot of posts and google may have even missed a few. Anyway when at root I 'modprobe ndiswrapper' and get this.

Code:
[root@mandriva ndiswrapper]# ndiswrapper -l
Installed ndis drivers:
wg311v2 driver present, hardware present
[root@mandriva ndiswrapper]# modprobe ndiswrapper
FATAL: Error inserting ndiswrapper (/lib/modules/2.6.11-6mdk/misc/ndiswrapper.ko): Invalid module format
Most come down to kernel version miss-match. But I'm sure it's not a problem here as the numbers seem to match up, don't they? I built the kernel as that seemed a common solution but no help.

Code:
[root@mandriva build]# cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.6.11-6mdk (gb@n2.mandrakesoft.com) (gcc version 3.4.3 (Mandrakelinux 10.2 3.4.3-3mdk)) #1 Tue Mar 22 16:04:32 CET 2005
[root@mandriva build]# modinfo ndiswrapper
filename: /lib/modules/2.6.11-6mdk/misc/ndiswrapper.ko
parmtype: if_name:charp
parm: if_name:Network interface name or template (default: wlan%d)
parmtype: proc_uid:int
parm: proc_uid:The uid of the files created in /proc (default: 0).
parmtype: proc_gid:int
parm: proc_gid:The gid of the files created in /proc (default: 0).
parmtype: hangcheck_interval:int
parmtype: debug:int
parm: debug:debug level
parm: hangcheck_interval:The interval, in seconds, for checking if driver is hung. (default: 0)

vermagic: 2.6.11-6mdkcustom 686 gcc-3.4
depends: usbcore
srcversion: 4053A6C7057E345A70AB170
[root@mandriva build]#
I do notice that in the last bit it mentions '2.6.11-6mdkcustom', should I be building the source from there rather then 2.6.11-6md which is what I have been doing .

What am I doing wrong, am I doing something in the wrong order perhaps?

Any comments would be helpful Thank you

After you build the kernel, you then need to build ndiswrapper for that kernel.

Due to all the changes in the PCMCIA subsystem, I am currently building and testing all the 2.6.13-rcx kernels. I keep the ndiswrapper-1.1 sources on disk. After building one of the new kernels and booting it, ndiswrapper is not available. During that first run, I make and install ndiswrapper. On subsequent reboots, my wifi network is then available.

Incidently, I use V1.1 of ndiswrapper rather than 1.2. The latter version causes the system to hang during shutdown and I have to power the machine off.
