Did you run a checksum on all the 10.1 ISOs you downloaded to make sure they are not corrupt? You may also have not burned the ISOs properly, as that has happened to me more than once - try burning the installation ISOs to disk with another CD burning application to see if that works.
It doesn't sound like a driver error to me, but more like corrupted installation disks. Try downloading them again from another mirror, or go for the unofficial DVD found on
LinuxTracker. Then, install again, and it should work normally
And nice mouse - I have one as well, and they work wonders on FPSs
