Sound Error

I am having an issue with my sound card. If I start up my computer and try to use Cedega, it will say there is no sound card, VMWare also tells me this, and any application with sound on KDE such as amarok with a volume control, the volume control will not work... however, if I delete the sound card, restrat X, and install the sound card after X is booted, then everything will work, so my thery is that something is being run on startup to mess up the sound... im just not sure what, any ideas?

That's really nice, but can't you pick ONE forum to post a topic in, and avoid crossposting in accordance with the agreement you accepted when you signed up for your account here?

However when I've encountered that here's what I've done:

* remove sound card from YaST
* Reboot
* When sound card is detected, do NOT let the system configure it
* Drop down to runlevel 3
* run alsaconf
* reboot

The other thing you could do is move /etc/sysconfig/sound and then try reconfiguring the sound card in X after rebooting.

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
