New box won't recognize CD burner for K3B

I got a new AMD box and it works fine except I can't burn any DVD's or CD's. Suse says it can't locate the CD/DVD player. How can I fix that?

Also I have a HP PSC 1315v all in one printer/scanner. I can't get the scanner to work, how can I fix that?

Assuming you're using openSUSE 11.1, make sure you have the latest version of hal installed. Should be hal-0.5.12-39.1. You'll have to reboot or restart hal (rchal restart).

If that doesn't work, we'll have to trouble shoot further.
