Missing Kmenu Items after KDE 3.5.1 Upgrade

Hi all

Installed SUSE 10 and was generally very pleased with it. Did the upgrade to KDE 3.5.1 by adding the supplymentary KDE 3.5 repo. This seems to have worked pretty well apart from an error being generated on shutdown.

My main problem is it seems to have caused most of the items in the start menu / kmenu to disappear. These still show up in the menu editor and are still installed working applications (Kpatience is an example)

It looks like there are two copies of the menu hanging about or something

Anyone got any ideas?

TIA

1) update kdebase3 to kdebase3-3.5.1-34
change require logout/login
if the above will not help:

2) rename file
~/.config/menus/applications-kmenuedit.menu
and delete (no need to rename)
/tmp/kde-user_name
/tmp/ksocket-user_name

in fact delete any /tmp/file-user_name file
change require logout/login

3) (desperate)
rename ~/.kde folder
change require logout/login
if you rename ~/.kde
you will loose all of settings, however you can copy these from old (renamed) ~/.kde

hope that one of these will help
