I'm running SuSE 9.0 Pro and just upgraded from KDE 3.1 to KDE 3.3.1. Everything is telling me 3.3.1 is installed, but now I'm missing icons all over the place (most noticeable in the Control Center) and I can't find the Theme Manager that's supposed to be part of 3.3.1.

The KDE startup/splash screen still shows the old 3.1 graphic, although my system says it's running 3.3.1. Am I missing graphics files somehow, and if so, how can I update them without attempting to totally reinstall KDE 3.3.1?

Also, Konsole won't close now when I type exit or close the window. It just hangs and I have to use the Runaway Process Catcher in order to shut it down. None of this was a problem under KDE 3.1

Anyone else have this problem or any ideas?

I guess this results from an incomplete update. Most probably some packages are still 3.1. How did you perform the update? I usually recommend to add the KDE supplementary from the FTP-server to the installation sources in yast and update all packages.

Try to list all kde packages and check the version numbers:

rpm -qa | grep kde

You're right. Only select packages were updated. I used YaST to update, and apparently it missed all sorts of things, so I'll manually FTP the missing packages and install them. Thanks for the suggestion.

As you can see, many of your packages are still KDE 3.1

I wonder why you do not have more trouble ;-)

Update every package that does not show version 3.3 (don't forget the qt3 packages that do not appear in this list).

After fighting with YaST, I finally have all of KDE 3.3 installed and things are working as they should be again. Thanks for the help
