Kfloppy Problem

Hello all,

I'm trying to use Kfloppy on Suse 10.2 and getting the following error:

Internal error: device not correctly found.

Using KDE. The following is in the /etc/fstab file:

/dev/fd0 /media/floppy auto noauto,user,sync 0 0

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Do you have a /dev/fd0 device?

Look at the output of "lsmod | grep floppy". If you don''t see a module, try to modprobe either the floppy module or the ide_floppy module, depending on the type of floppy drive you have.

swamprat....

I just had the same problem with opensuse10.2 x86_64, and saw your post while googling. I did as jschiwal suggested:

lsmod | grep floppy
floppy 82408 1

And seeing as floppy is present, it was baffling. I even tried 'right-click/format' the floppy icon in 'my computer' - same error.

So.... after thinking about a while, I finally figured it out - I needed to be root!

su
password
kfloppy

Then the gui will actually format! .. Question is, if I can 'copy to' and 'remove from' without permission probs - why not format?

Anyways, thought I'd pass that one on to ya - registered just to post it

cheers
