Arrow I need Kernel 2.4.21-199-default...

Currently i been using SUSE now for 1 week...still cant get online due to my winmodem......

ive tryed many things...today i saw this guy post some modules and a readme on installing them to make the PCTel HSP MicroModem 56 (rev 2)work...

so far he said it was tested on :
SuSE 8.2 kernel 2.4.20-4GB
SuSE 9.0 kernel 2.4.21-199-default

I tryed doing hes procedure on my SUSE 9.1....but when im doing the last steps i get a module error...

Im thinking that its happening cause i have a 2.6.4-52 kernel??

here the instructions..

Code:
# Big thanks for the HOWTOs and other DOCs to:
#	Sayamindu Dasgupta
#	Jan Stifter
#
#
# download @ YOUR OWN RISK !!!
#
#
#
# Chip:	PCTEL PCT789T-C1
# Modem:	ASUS MR MODEM PCI 56k
#
# lspci -n	00:13.0 Class 0703: 134d:7892 (rev 02)
# lspci -v	00:13.0 Modem: PCTel Inc HSP MicroModem 56 (rev 02) (prog-if 04 [Hayes/16750])
# Subsystem: PCTel Inc: Unknown device 0001
# Flags: stepping, medium devsel, IRQ 12
# I/O ports at 8000 [size=64]
# Capabilities: [40] Power Management version 2
#
#
#
# tested with
#	SuSE 8.2 kernel 2.4.20-4GB
#	SuSE 9.0 kernel 2.4.21-199-default
#	may work with others
#
#
# first you must unzip the modules
#	gunzip *.o
#
#
# works with /dev/ttyS15, MAJOR=62 MINOR=79.
# if ttyS15 is different, you may leave it as is,
# and use the new /dev/pctel device.
#
# my configuration
mknod /dev/pctel c 62 79
chgrp uucp /dev/pctel
chmod 666 /dev/pctel
# ln -s /dev/pctel /dev/modem
# (i don't link it to the modem, i use it directly)
insmod -f ./pctel.o
insmod -f ./ptserial.o

I really wish i could get online....so do i need to get that old kernel??

if so where can i download it? ive searched everywhere(SUSE ftp/RPM seek/Google....cant find it..

help?

p.s. or i can edit the modules to work on my kernel? how?

Hm ....
I only have a little hint:

When I wanted to install "dazuko", I had to do following steps:

==============
Insert Linux
==============
Insert the kernel module
/sbin/insmod ./dazuko.o <-- Linux 2.2-2.4
/sbin/insmod ./dazuko.ko <-- Linux 2.6

Is there any "./pctel.ko" around?

Maybe the following link helps:

http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-HOWTO...dem-HOWTO.html

Hope it helped

Pete
