I'm trying to install slackware on a somewhat old computer that can't boot to cd.
I'll just tell you (almost) everything I tried already. (fyi, I'm a newb)
I'm using slackware 10.1. I know slackware 10.2 is out, but lets just say I can't burn another cd set.
It's a pc with a intel celeron, with a replaced cd drive.
smartbootdisk does not work on my computer, either.
So I'm using the floppies to boot into the computer, and have tried bare.i, old_cd.i, and scsi.s
I use a modified root disk 2 and network floppy to use ftp install.
So I get to the part of the install where I choose the media option, but the cd drive can't be detected (with old_cd.i too) and I can't hook up to the ftp server I set up on one other computer in the network.
error mesesage for ftp:
mount: fs ftpfs not supported by kernel
error message for cd:
(summary: we could not find your cd drive)
I don't know how to solve the either problem.
And as long as I get linux installed, it doesn't matter how it gets there. (cd, ftp, whatever
)
Thanks in advance for help.
