good capabilities?

im a dial up user.... will it be easy for me to set up my external serial modem and pengaol thru libranet? or should i use a different distro?

I'd say get broadband. You'll have a much better experience with Libranet that way, since it's a Debian based distro. You'll usually need extensive use of the apt repositories, so you'll need a good bit of bandwidth. Unless, of course, you are a VERY patient person.

Other than that, Slackware is pretty good, although it doesn't hold your hand so much.

To answer the question if the modem has a hardware controller you should be able to set it up fine. What is a pengaol?
