Question Network sharing


I have a linux box running Slack 9.1, it have 2 network cards. One of the cards are connected to the internet using pppoe. The other card is connected to a windows xp machine. What i want is to allow the windows machine to use the linux machines internet connection.
Is that possible? If so can anybody please give me some directions or links to a page where I can read more?

Same problem here

I have the same problem as chenni. I want to use the llinux machine as a gateway for the windows xp machine.

I have been following all of these IP Masquerading HowTo's for the last couple of days and can't get any progress.

I can ping the linux gateway from the windows XP machine.
I can ping the windows machine from the linux slackware 9.1 machine.
And I can ping or go to web sites from the linux machine.

But I can't get the internet from the Windows machine.

I know that a DNS isn't set up yet, but even with an ip address I can't ping any web sites.

This should not be impossible, yet it seems to not work no matter what.

I suspect the problem is with the routing I have, but I don't know exactly what might be wrong.

Here is my route setup:

Kernel IP routing table

192.168.0.14 * 255.255.255.255 UH 0 0 0 eth1
172.31.255.247 * 255.255.255.255 UH 0 0 0 ppp0

loopback * 255.0.0.0 U 0 0 0 lo
default 172.31.255.247 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 ppp0

eth0 is the connection to the internet
eth1 is the connection to the windows machine

192.168.0.14 is the windows machine
192.168.0.13 is the linux machine

Any suggestions to my problems from anyone would be appretiated.

I found a guide who solved the problem for me.. Send a mail to chhenni@yahoo.no if you want me to send it to you. I can't remember the url to the web page where i got it, so email is the only option
