Which is the safest way to convert ext2 > reiserfs?


Hello everybody,
I decided to convert my / to reiserfs. Could you tell me what is the best way to do it, without losing any data?

Safest wax would be to copy everything somewhere else then reformat and copy it back.

I noticed that the reiserfsprogs in current is lagging at v3.6.11, the latest version is 3.6.13. Trying to find the changelog, to see what the fixes are, on the namesys site is not easy.

As far as i can recall there is a tool in the reiser package for converting the flie system.

similar to the one used for converting from ext2 ->> ext3

Would that be tunefs? I think reiser is about to go to version 4.0 soon. I already like reiserfs better than ext2 or ext3.

reiserfstune is what you are looking for.

check out the man pages for it, they seem tp be the best option.
